The Critical Psychiatry Network is an informal organisation of psychiatrists, psychiatric trainees and doctors working in mental health, and the core activity of the network is centred on its mailing list exchanges. From inception, the aim of this network has been to provide a forum for exchange of ideas as well as peer support to doctors working in psychiatric practice who attempt to bring a critical perspective to bear on their work. For this reason, membership of the network is limited to doctors working in psychiatry or related fields of medicine, and does not include other disciplines, such as psychology or nursing.
Membership of our network entails subscribing to our mailing list. Our regular mailing list is hosted via Jiscmail and includes most members. It is used for exchange of ideas, peer support and sharing information. Any announcements of conferences and meetings organised by the network will be posted on the regular mailing list. If you unsubscribe from the regular mailing list, your email address will, in the first instance, be kept on an ‘announcements only’ mailing list, which is reserved for members who only wish to be informed about conferences and meetings. You can of course ask us not to retain your email address on this secondary list after unsubscribing from the regular mailing list.
There is no membership fee. The mailing list is separate from our website, which is open access.
If you are a psychiatrist, psychiatric trainee or other doctor with an interest in mental health, you can join the Critical Psychiatry Network. Medical students with an interest in training in psychiatry are also welcome.
If you wish to join the mailing list, please, enter your details below and let us know where you work and in what capacity. If you are a trainee and interested in also joining the CPN Trainee Forum, please check the box and we will send you the relevant information and contact details for this forum. Finally, please, let us know how you heard about our network.
